AMD EPYC Leads 5G/6G Network Development with OCUDU

At Mobile World Congress (MWC), the Linux Foundation announced the establishment of the OCUDU Ecosystem Foundation. This foundation will focus on advancing open-source AI-RAN (Radio Access Network) innovations for radio access networks. The goal is to create a reference platform and promote innovation in the field of 5G and 6G network solutions.

OCUDU, designed to facilitate benchmarking, has seen early code tests performed on AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon server platforms. Preliminary results suggest an initial leadership for AMD EPYC in this context.

For those evaluating on-premise deployments of 5G/6G solutions, there are trade-offs to consider in terms of performance, costs, and latency requirements. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
