## A Table of Media Bias Elements A new study introduces a sentence-level taxonomy for analyzing bias in media and propaganda techniques. The research, presented on arXiv, focuses on the linguistic maneuvers that convey bias, transcending traditional political divisions. ## Taxonomy Details The taxonomy comprises 38 elementary bias types, grouped into six functional families. For each type, the study provides a precise definition, real-world examples, the cognitive and societal drivers behind it, and guidance for its recognition. Researchers analyzed 26,464 sentences from various sources, including newsroom corpora and user submissions. ## Methodology and Results The methodology combines close-reading, interdisciplinary theory, and pilot annotation. A quantitative survey of a random 155-sentence sample revealed prevalence differences among the various bias types. Comparison with existing taxonomies in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and communication science highlighted increased coverage and reduced ambiguity.
