Nvidia Hardware Smuggling Allegations to China

Super Micro employees have been accused of smuggling approximately $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia hardware into China. According to the allegations, those responsible allegedly used a hairdryer to transfer serial numbers from genuine hardware components to thousands of counterfeit servers.

The investigation focuses on a warehouse located in Southeast Asia, where the serial number replacements allegedly took place. The relevant authorities are examining CCTV footage from the warehouse to reconstruct the events and identify those responsible.

This episode raises questions about supply chain security and controls to prevent the illegal export of advanced technologies, particularly to countries subject to trade restrictions.
