Intel Xe Driver Updates for Linux

Significant updates are coming to the Intel Xe open-source graphics driver, in preparation for the Linux 7.0 kernel cycle. The changes have been queued in DRM-Next and include several new features.

One of the main changes is disabling GuC Power DCC (Dynamic Clock Control) for Panther Lake GPUs. This change may have implications for the performance and power consumption of these GPUs.

Other New Features

In addition to disabling GuC Power DCC, the updates include:

  • Expanding GPU temperature sensor reporting.
  • Multi-device SVM (Shared Virtual Memory) preparation.
  • Multi-queue support for Crescent Island.
  • Display support for Nova Lake.

With the stable release of Linux 6.19 approaching, DRM-Next is now focusing on reading early fixes and concluding feature activity for this next merge window.
