Gentoo says goodbye to GitHub, heading to Codeberg
Gentoo, a well-known Linux distribution, has officially started the process of migrating its repositories from GitHub to Codeberg. The decision was made in response to what the Gentoo team calls "continuous attempts to force the adoption of Copilot" within its repositories.
Repository mirrors are now operational on the new platform. This change reflects a growing focus, by open source communities, towards platforms that offer greater control and transparency over how data and code are used.
For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs related to the choice of development platform. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
