GitHub has announced the technical preview of Agentic Workflows, an extension of GitHub Actions where an artificial intelligence agent operates autonomously. This feature, presented during the Universe event in San Francisco, is currently in the early stages of development and its use is therefore at the user's own risk.

Integrating AI into development workflows

GitHub's goal is to integrate artificial intelligence directly into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes. Agentic workflows are not intended to replace traditional CI/CD systems, but rather to automate certain phases and specific tasks, improving efficiency and reducing the workload of developers.

It is important to emphasize that the feature is still in technical preview. GitHub warns users to use agentic workflows "at your own risk", given the potential instability and lack of guarantees about their reliability.
