Google continues to integrate generative artificial intelligence into its search engine. The latest development is the adoption of Gemini 3 as the default language model for AI Overviews, the automatically generated summaries that appear at the top of search results.

AI Mode: deeper conversations

In parallel with the model update, Google has introduced a new feature called AI Mode. This allows users to jump directly from AI Overviews to a conversational mode with the AI, to further explore the search topic. Instead of having to formulate a new query, users can simply click on an option to continue the interaction with the AI and ask follow-up questions.

The integration of Gemini 3 and the introduction of AI Mode represent a further step in Google's strategy to make artificial intelligence more accessible and integrated into the daily search experience.
