India and US Strengthen Semiconductor Supply Chain

India has joined the US-led Pax Silica initiative, aiming to build a robust supply chain in the semiconductor sector. This strategic move aims to reduce reliance on a single country, particularly China, for the supply of essential components.

The bilateral agreement covers a wide range of activities, from the extraction and processing of rare earth elements, crucial for chip production, to the development of advanced tools for semiconductor manufacturing. A crucial aspect of the initiative is the development of specialized skills in the sector, through training programs and know-how transfer.

This collaboration represents a significant step towards diversifying and making the global semiconductor supply chain more resilient, a key element for technological innovation and economic growth.
