Continuity Plan for the Linux Kernel

Documentation regarding the Linux kernel project's continuity plan has been added to the Linux 6.19 kernel. This measure was taken following discussions at the 2025 Linux Maintainer Summit.

The goal is to define the procedures to follow in the event that Linus Torvalds' official Git repository, the nerve center of kernel development, becomes inaccessible or disappears. The documentation aims to ensure that kernel development can continue smoothly even in such an event.

The decision to create this continuity plan underscores the importance of stability and resilience in the world of open source software development. Having a ready-to-use emergency plan is essential for complex and long-lasting projects like the Linux kernel, ensuring that the work of thousands of developers is not suddenly lost.
