The return of the command line

The command line interface (CLI) is making a comeback, in an era dominated by graphical user interfaces (GUIs). The main reason for this return is that GUIs, designed for human interaction, are not well suited for autonomous agents.

Google seems to have understood that asking agents to navigate GUIs designed for humans is inefficient. Other companies, such as Microsoft, may not have fully realized this problem yet. This trend could have important consequences for the future of software development.

For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
