Lateral, a startup focused on providing healthcare and financial services for the over 60s population, has announced the closing of a £2.5 million seed funding round.

Funding Details

The round was led by Augmenum, a UK fintech investor, with support from Triple Point and TinyVC. Lateral intends to use the funds to support the launch of its first product, the Lateral Health Plan.

Lateral Health Plan

The Lateral Health Plan is designed to combine financial cover for private healthcare, care navigation services, and stay-healthy benefits into a single solution. A central element of the plan is a nurse-led navigation service designed to help users make informed decisions and get the most from their healthcare, both through the National Health Service (NHS) and through private options.

The Team

Lateral was founded by Laura Ashforth, former managing director of Zego, and Steven Mendel, co-founder and former CEO of ManyPets. The team consists of nine people.

Target Market

Lateral aims to serve the over 14 million people over 60 in the UK who need healthcare and financial assistance.
