Asahi Linux Targets Apple M3 Chips

The Asahi Linux project continues its work to bring the Linux operating system to Apple Silicio devices. After the progress made with the M1 and M2 chips, the focus is now shifting to the newer M3s.

KDE Plasma on MacBook M3: A First Step

A developer from the Asahi Linux project has announced that they have successfully booted the KDE Plasma desktop environment on an M3 MacBook. This result was achieved using an experimental version of the Asahi Linux code.

GPU Acceleration Still Absent

Despite the successful boot of KDE Plasma, GPU acceleration is not yet functional. This means that graphics performance is limited and further work is needed to fully exploit the capabilities of Apple Silicio hardware. The development of open-source drivers for Apple GPUs is a complex challenge, but the Asahi Linux team continues to work to overcome it.
