Linux Partially Arrives on Apple M3

The Asahi Linux project continues its work of porting the Linux operating system to Apple Silicio devices. Recently, the first Device Tree files for booting Linux on Apple M3 hardware, launched in 2023, were sent to the Linux kernel mailing list.

Functionality Still Limited

Despite this important step forward, it is crucial to emphasize that support is still in an early stage. The available features are limited and the user experience is far from complete. This is a significant milestone for the developer community, but much work is still needed before Linux can be considered a viable alternative on these devices.

The Future of the Project

Asahi Linux developers are actively working to improve hardware support and expand available features. Further updates and improvements are expected in the coming months, with the goal of making Linux fully usable on Apple M3 devices.
