Micron accelerates on HBM4 and PCIe Gen6 for Nvidia
Micron has announced the start of mass production of HBM4 memory and PCIe Gen6 SSDs, designed to integrate with Nvidia platforms. This strategic move aims to meet the growing demand for memory bandwidth and data transfer speeds in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads.
HBM4 memory offers significantly higher bandwidth than previous generations, enabling faster data access for GPUs and accelerators. PCIe Gen6 SSDs, on the other hand, double the bandwidth compared to the previous generation, reducing latency and improving overall system performance.
For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider when adopting these new technologies. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
