A software engineer in Minneapolis has started a unique initiative: collecting dashcams to monitor the activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in his city. ## The Initiative Nick Benson, the engineer's name, launched an online appeal hoping to receive about ten dashcams. To his surprise, he received more than 500. "The state has cameras everywhere," Benson told 404 Media. "Citizens will benefit from having the same cameras to document what's happening and make sure everything is on the up and up." ## Context The initiative comes in response to the Trump administration sending 2,000 federal agents to the Minneapolis area. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the arrival of hundreds more agents. Former President Trump threatened Minnesota with a "DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION" in a social media post.
