Quantonation Ventures, a Paris and New York-headquartered venture capital firm, has closed a €220m fund dedicated to quantum technologies. According to the company, this is the largest-ever dedicated quantum fund.
The fund, named Fund II, will invest in pre-seed and seed rounds of companies operating in areas such as quantum computing, cybersecurity, and ultra-precise sensing. Investors include Novo Holdings, the investment arm of Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk, electronics giant Toshiba, and Vertex, the VC platform backed by Singapore state investor Temasek.
Investments and strategy
Quantonation has surpassed its initial target of €200 million, demonstrating the growing interest in quantum technologies. Since its launch in 2018, Quantonation has invested in more than 10 countries, supporting companies active in various fields, from supply chains to quantum computing.
Christophe Jurczak, Managing Partner of Quantonation, emphasized how the alignment between hardware, software, supply chains, and industrial demand is finally making the potential of quantum concrete. According to Jurczak, durable value lies in an interlocking technology stack, rather than a single machine.
Quantonation focuses on technologies that take time to scale, favoring an approach based on multiple systems rather than a single breakthrough.
