Taiwan strengthens national security
The government of Taiwan is reviewing the National Security Act to address increasing hybrid threats. This legislative review aims to strengthen the protection of the island's critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
The decision to revise the act is not related to the recent case involving Wei-jen Lo of TSMC. The main goal is to improve Taiwan's ability to respond to complex forms of aggression that combine military, cyber, economic, and disinformation tactics.
The proposed amendments to the National Security Act should provide the authorities with more effective tools to prevent and counter activities that threaten national stability and security. This includes a greater focus on protecting trade secrets and intellectual property, which are crucial for Taiwan's technologically advanced economy.
