Wi-Fi 7: promises vs. reality

Wi-Fi 7, the latest generation of wireless technology, has generated great expectations. However, some of its most innovative features, such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and Automatic Frequency Coordination (AFC), have not yet been fully realized.

MLO, which promises to improve connection speed and stability by aggregating multiple frequency bands, still presents implementation challenges. Similarly, AFC, designed to optimize the use of the radio spectrum, is not yet fully operational.

A look at the future: Wi-Fi 8

As Wi-Fi 7 continues to evolve, attention is already shifting to Wi-Fi 8. The next generations of wireless standards will face even greater challenges, such as the increasing demand for bandwidth and the need to support an ever-increasing number of connected devices. The evolution of wireless is crucial to support the growing connectivity needs, especially in dense and complex environments.
