Arkadia Space, a Spanish startup based at Castellón Airport, has raised €14.5 million for its green space propulsion system called DARK.

Hydrogen Peroxide Propulsion

The DARK system, based on hydrogen peroxide, became the first propulsion system of its kind to fly in orbit in Europe, launched aboard a SpaceX mission in March 2025. Arkadia Space is the first Spanish space company selected for the European Innovation Council Accelerator.

Funding Context

This funding represents a significant step for the development of more sustainable space technologies. Most satellites currently operating in orbit require propulsion systems for station keeping and orbital maneuvers. The adoption of more environmentally friendly propellants, such as hydrogen peroxide, can reduce the environmental impact of space activities.
