EGIDE aims to revolutionize defense with affordable systems

EGIDE, a French company specializing in defense technologies, has announced an €8 million seed funding round. The investment is led by Expeditions, Eurazeo, and Heartcore Capital, with participation from Galion.exe and Kima Ventures.

Founded in 2025 by former MBDA engineers, Simon Calonne and Florian Audigier, EGIDE aims to address the growing threat posed by low-cost drones and guided munitions, which are challenging traditional defense systems.

Technology and objectives

At the core of EGIDE's proposal is the development of electrically propelled interceptors and Mystique, a hardware-agnostic software platform that leverages distributed sensors, AI-driven detection, and layered interception systems. This architecture enables reactive iteration against evolving targets and faster integration across different weapon platforms and missions, while reducing the cost and complexity associated with traditional defense systems.

The company will use the new funds to accelerate the design and production of electrically-propelled interceptors and the development of the Mystique platform. EGIDE also plans to expand its engineering team, recruiting talent across Europe with expertise in electric propulsion, aerodynamics, warhead design, and software development.

In a rapidly evolving geopolitical context, with the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East, the need for scalable and affordable defense systems has become increasingly evident. EGIDE aims to position itself as a European leader in this sector, offering innovative solutions to protect armed forces and critical infrastructure.
