Gestala, a Chinese startup specializing in brain-computer interfaces (BCI), has announced a funding round of $21.6 million. The company focuses on developing non-invasive BCI technologies based on ultrasound.
Funding Details
This funding round represents the largest early-stage investment in the BCI sector in China. The startup was founded just two months before securing this funding, which was significantly oversubscribed.
The Founder
Phoenix Peng, the founder of Gestala, has previously founded another company in the BCI sector, NeuroXess. NeuroXess focuses on implantable BCI systems designed to restore communication and motor functions in people with severe neurological conditions. Gestala represents his second venture in the field, with a different technological approach (non-invasive).
