A study conducted in the UK, called The Rise Report, has highlighted how British female entrepreneurs identify human connection as a crucial factor for the resilience, growth, and success of their companies.

Research Details

The research, commissioned by one of the UK's largest communities of female founders in partnership with Barclays, involved 2,225 female entrepreneurs, generating a volume of qualitative data equal to 436,000 words. The companies led by these women collectively generate an annual turnover of ยฃ1 billion.

The Importance of Connection

The report emphasizes that entrepreneurship, contrary to what one might think, greatly benefits from community, peer support, and shared experiences. 78% of respondents indicated human connection as a central element in their entrepreneurial journey. Peer networks were identified as the most effective form of support (39%), followed by mentorship and coaching (32%).

Challenges and Obstacles

Despite the benefits of connection, the study also found that a quarter of female entrepreneurs (27%) suffer from mental health issues, including burnout and self-doubt. Loneliness is a widespread problem, regardless of the size of the company. Access to capital remains a significant obstacle for 45% of respondents, who complain about frustrations related to bureaucracy and the complexity of public and private funding procedures.

Future Perspectives

The study's findings highlight the need for greater support for female entrepreneurs, through the creation of support networks, access to qualified mentorship, and the simplification of funding procedures. A more inclusive and collaborative ecosystem could unlock significant economic growth potential for the UK.
