Microsoft and the monetization of AI agents

Microsoft is reportedly considering a new licensing scheme for AI agents, effectively equating them to digital employees. The Redmond company would like to apply a monthly fee for each AI agent employed by companies.

The underlying idea is to monetize the use of these "digital workers", generating new revenue streams. Unlike human employees, AI agents do not need benefits such as health insurance, but they will need a specific SKU (Stock Keeping Unit).

For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
