Molfar Defence Technologies, a Polish-Ukrainian defense tech company, announced the completion of the first tranche of a €2 million funding round, securing an initial €1.5 million investment from Front Ventures, a Swedish investment company. This capital is earmarked to support the development and deployment of advanced tactical radar systems, specifically designed for the detection of small unmanned aerial systems (UAVs). Founded in 2026, Molfar aims to fill a gap in modern air defense architecture by bringing reliable detection capabilities directly to the tactical level, where the need for control and operational sovereignty is most critical.
Molfar's approach focuses on providing solutions that can be deployed close to the units that need them, emphasizing an on-premise or "self-hosted" deployment model to ensure maximum autonomy and security. The investment will be used to expand Molfar's engineering team, covering radar development, signal processing, and systems integration, and to advance from prototype to field-validated systems ready for operational deployment.
Future Prospects and Operational Control
To strengthen operational proximity to its primary deployment environment and accelerate cooperation with armed forces already engaged in testing and validation, Molfar is opening an office in Ukraine. Field trials are planned in both Ukraine and NATO countries, underscoring the company's international ambition.
