Monzo Boardroom Reshuffle

TS Anil, formerly CEO of Monzo, has been appointed as vice-chair of the board. This change is part of a broader reshuffle that sees the addition of Vinay Yarlagadda, managing director at GIC (an existing investor in Monzo), and Anu Hariharan, founder of Acra and former managing director at Y Combinator, as non-executive board members.

The reshuffle follows Anil's resignation as CEO, which occurred after disagreements over the digital bank's international expansion strategy and his post-IPO commitment. Anil was replaced by Diana Layfield, a former Google manager, who has assumed the role of CEO.

Monzo, valued at $5.9 billion in 2024, has over 14 million customers. The appointment of Anil as vice-chair, along with the addition of Yarlagadda and Hariharan, aims to support the company's future growth. Gary Hoffman, chair of the Monzo board, expressed satisfaction with the new additions, highlighting their extensive experience.
