No Admission of AI Replacement in New York

The state of New York has introduced a regulation requiring companies to report if technological innovation or automation has led to layoffs. The law has been in effect for almost a year.

So far, no company has declared that it has replaced workers with artificial intelligence systems. This does not necessarily mean that such replacements have not occurred, but that no company has formally admitted to doing so.

It is possible that companies are interpreting the law narrowly, or that they are attributing job losses to other factors. The adoption of generative AI systems in the enterprise is a hot topic, and transparency on the employment impact is crucial for a responsible transition.
