Memory makers unite against hoarding
Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, three of the world's leading memory manufacturers, have announced a collaboration to block memory hoarding. The goal is to stabilize the market and ensure a fairer supply to customers.
This decision could have a significant impact on memory prices. In the short term, the reduction in available supply could lead to an acceleration of price increases. However, in the long term, it is hoped that this initiative will encourage increased production, leading to greater market stability.
The memory market is cyclical, with periods of oversupply followed by periods of scarcity. Hoarding, often driven by speculators, can exacerbate these fluctuations, making it difficult for manufacturers to plan production and for consumers to predict costs.
