AMD and CIQ have announced a collaboration to develop an AMD-optimized build of Rocky Linux. This version of the RHEL-derived operating system will be specifically targeted at artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.

ROCm Integration

A key aspect of this new distribution will be its tight integration with ROCm, AMD's open-source software platform designed for accelerated computing. ROCm provides the tools and libraries needed to fully leverage the capabilities of AMD GPUs in scientific and machine learning applications.

For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
