Willo, a Finnish-based deeptech company, has raised โ‚ฌ2.9 million in a pre-seed round to accelerate the development of its wireless power system. The unique feature of this system is its ability to charge devices in motion, without the need for alignment or directionality.

Technology and Ambitions

Willo's technology is based on over a decade of research on wireless power. The goal is ambitious: to create a world without cables, encompassing consumer devices, industrial systems, manufacturing, drones, and any electrically powered hardware.

According to Harri Santamala, co-founder and CEO of Willo, wireless power is one of the last unsolved infrastructure layers in autonomy. The company aims to remove the operational barriers that limit the use of robots and autonomous devices due to the need for wired or manual charging.

Recognition and Prospects

Willo's technology was presented at CES 2026, where it won the CNET Group's Best of CES 2026 award. The company protects its technology through patents and trade secrets.

Although Willo has not yet announced commercial partnerships, interest from large companies is high. The business model will vary by industry, ranging from licenses to hardware and OEM integration. The company is initially focusing on autonomous robotics, with the aim of eliminating downtime due to charging and reducing battery sizes.

The funding was led by byFounders, with participation from Interface Capital, Unruly Capital, and Wave Ventures, as well as a group of angel investors.
