Accusations against xAI for CSAM Generation

Elon Musk's xAI is being sued following the discovery of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) allegedly generated by its artificial intelligence model, Grok. The report originated from an anonymous user on Discord, who alerted the authorities.

Previous Controversies

As recently as January, Musk had denied that Grok produced CSAM, in response to a scandal in which xAI refused to update filters to block the chatbot from nudifying images of real people. The Center for Countering Digital Hate had estimated that Grok had generated approximately three million sexualized images, of which approximately 23,000 depicted children. Instead of fixing the problem, xAI limited access to Grok to paying subscribers.

For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
