LeCun bets on 'embodied' AI
Yann LeCun, a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence and formerly head of AI at Meta, has announced a capital raise of $1 billion for his new venture, AMI. LeCun's vision is to develop an AI that understands and interacts with the physical world, departing from the traditional approach focused solely on language processing.
LeCun has long argued that true artificial intelligence, comparable to that of humans, will emerge from the ability to understand and manipulate the surrounding environment. AMI aims to prove this thesis, focusing on models that learn through physical interaction, potentially opening new frontiers in robotics and automation.
