Blender 5.1: AMD Ray-Tracing and Vulkan in the Spotlight
Blender 5.1 is now available, the latest version of the popular open-source 3D modeling software. This release introduces a number of significant improvements, with a particular focus on hardware acceleration and performance.
AMD GPU Ray-Tracing Enabled by Default
One of the most important new features is the default enabling of hardware ray-tracing for AMD GPUs. This means that users with compatible AMD hardware will benefit from superior performance in rendering complex scenes, with more realistic lighting and shading effects.
Improved Vulkan Support
Blender 5.1 also includes more mature Vulkan support. The Vulkan API offers more direct access to the graphics hardware, allowing for optimized performance and full utilization of modern GPUs. This results in a smoother and more responsive experience, especially when modeling and animating complex scenes.
Blender continues to evolve as a powerful and versatile tool for 3D content creation, offering artists and designers an open-source alternative to commercial solutions.
