The PyTorch Foundation and its Ambassador Program

Just over a year ago, the PyTorch Foundation launched its Ambassador Program, a strategic initiative designed to recognize and support independent, trusted voices within the PyTorch community. The primary goal of this program is twofold: on one hand, to empower those passionate about building, educating, and advocating for the Framework; on the other, to strengthen regional PyTorch communities, encourage technical contributions, and facilitate global knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The Foundation is once again seeking new PyTorch enthusiasts to further expand the program. In this phase, applications are particularly encouraged from contributors across regions such as Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe. This strategy aims to ensure broader and more diverse representation of Ambassadors in a growing number of regions and local communities, reflecting the global and inclusive nature of the PyTorch project.

Role and Requirements for Ambassadors

PyTorch Foundation Ambassadors play a crucial role in helping others get started with Foundation projects. Their commitment takes various fundamental forms, including mentoring users, creating detailed technical tutorials, writing informative blog posts, or producing explanatory videos. Additionally, they organize local events, both virtual and in-person, and represent the PyTorch Foundation at conferences, meetups, and academic institutions.

The commitment required from Ambassadors is for a two-year term, during which regular participation in at least one of the outlined focus areas is expected. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old and adhere to the PyTorch Foundation Code of Conduct and the Linux Foundation Antitrust Policy. It is also essential to demonstrate solid technical knowledge of PyTorch through Open Source contributions, published content, or leadership within the community. These requirements ensure that Ambassadors are competent figures aligned with the Foundation's values.

Benefits and Community Impact

The Ambassador Program offers a range of significant resources and opportunities to support its members. Among the main benefits are recognition and visibility, with an official designation as an Ambassador, a featured profile on the PyTorch Foundation website, and promotion through social media and communication channels. Ambassadors also enjoy exclusive access to private collaboration channels with fellow Ambassadors and Foundation staff, invitations to briefings, workshops, and leadership training, as well as event planning toolkits and templates.

Community and event support includes reimbursement for approved activities and travel, complimentary admission to the PyTorch Conference, and the provision of branded materials and Ambassador kits. On the professional development front, opportunities arise to speak at industry and Foundation events, recognition for top contributors, and the chance to network with machine learning leaders globally. For CTOs, DevOps leads, and infrastructure architects evaluating on-premise LLM deployments, a strong and well-supported PyTorch community is a valuable asset, as it facilitates access to essential skills, solutions, and best practices for managing local stacks and hardware for Inference and training.

How to Apply and the Global Vision

Nominations for the Ambassador Program are open until June 18, 2026. Interested individuals can nominate themselves or someone else. All applications will be reviewed by the PyTorch Foundation team, and selected Ambassadors will be notified in September, with the official announcement scheduled for October 2026. Evaluation criteria include community impact and engagement, technical expertise and thought leadership, consistent activity within PyTorch Foundation projects and communities, and a commitment to openness, inclusion, and collaboration.

The PyTorch Foundation actively seeks Ambassadors from a broad range of regions and communities to build a globally representative program. Nominees will be asked to share their geographical location to help identify opportunities for regional engagement and support across the various Foundation projects and communities. The Ambassador Program represents an exciting chapter in the growth of the PyTorch community, inviting everyone to contribute to building an even more connected, inclusive, and global ecosystem.
