Pepper, a New York-based technology platform focused on independent food distributors, has announced the acquisition of Alima, a Y Combinator-backed startup. Alima has developed software for order management and procurement aimed at small food distributors in Latin America.
Acquisition Details
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Alima's two co-founders will join Pepper's leadership team. This acquisition represents a step forward in the integration of AI-based solutions within the Pepper platform, with a particular focus on optimizing product catalogs, which are often complex and disorganized in the food industry.
The goal is to improve efficiency and reduce errors throughout the entire distribution process, from order management to delivery analysis. The integration of AI could enable better product classification, personalized recommendations for customers, and more accurate demand forecasting.
