Bliss focuses on culturally aware AI for therapy
Finland-based startup Bliss, originally founded in Albania, has announced $270,000 in funding led by Keiretsu Forum, Finest Love VC, and Plug and Play. The goal is to develop an AI infrastructure capable of supporting therapy services that take into account the cultural specificities of patients.
Many mental health platforms and AI-based therapy tools are designed for monolingual and culturally homogeneous markets. Bliss, on the other hand, focuses on culturally specialized and clinician-supervised systems, as opposed to generic AI solutions.
A different approach to AI for mental health
The platform combines licensed therapists in over 10 countries with an AI-based linguistic and cultural matching system. This allows users to connect with professionals who understand their language and cultural background. AI is designed to support, not replace, human intervention.
The company is also developing therapist-trained "digital companions," AI systems designed to reflect a therapist's style, tone, and approach, with the intent of extending human-led care.
Next steps
With the new funding, Bliss plans to launch the first version of its therapist-trained AI companions, expand into additional diaspora markets, including the United States, expand partnerships with multinational employers, and further develop its AI governance and clinical oversight frameworks.
For those considering on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these aspects.
