Merchantee Secures €1.8 Million for European E-commerce AI Expansion

Merchantee, a company specializing in the development of AI-driven marketplace intelligence tools for e-commerce sellers, has announced it secured €1.8 million in funding. This investment round was led by Reflex Capital, with participation from Czech Founders VC and Lighthouse Ventures. The raised funds will be allocated to accelerate product development, expand support for additional e-commerce marketplaces, and sustain the company's growth across Europe.

Geographic expansion will initially focus on Poland and Germany, with subsequent launches planned in France, the Netherlands, and Italy. The e-commerce sector continues to account for an increasing share of online retail sales, and merchants are managing growing levels of complexity across multiple platforms. The need to continuously adjust pricing, promotions, advertising campaigns, and product visibility, while balancing profitability and operational constraints, represents a significant challenge. Merchantee addresses precisely this scenario, offering solutions to automate and optimize these operations.

The Platform and its Artificial Intelligence

According to Merchantee, many businesses still rely on manual processes or disconnected software tools, making it difficult to react quickly to market changes. To address this issue, the company has developed a platform that integrates marketplace monitoring, pricing intelligence, and automated decision-making. The system consolidates catalog, pricing, and campaign data across supported marketplaces, utilizing AI to recommend and execute specific actions.

These actions include repricing products, selecting the most effective promotional campaigns, and optimizing catalog performance. The platform operates at the individual product level and can adjust pricing at regular intervals based on market conditions, while adhering to rules defined by the seller. Furthermore, it helps merchants identify high-performing products, emerging opportunities, and underperforming inventory, providing valuable insights for strategic management.

Growth Strategy and Market Impact

Jakub Vraspír, founder and CEO of Merchantee, emphasized that the company's primary goal is to help sellers manage the growing complexity of marketplace commerce without requiring significant increases in headcount or operational resources. Scaling marketplace sales involves thousands of daily decisions related to pricing, campaigns, and promotions. Merchantee's platform is designed to automate these decisions, enabling sellers to compete more effectively across multiple marketplaces.

The company already serves hundreds of sellers and digital commerce teams, including prominent brands such as Philips, Lindt, SodaStream, and Vilgain. In addition to geographic expansion, Merchantee plans to add support for marketplaces including eMag, BOL, and Cdiscount, increasing the number of integrated platforms available to its customers. This expansion aims to solidify the company's position as a strategic partner for merchants operating in an increasingly fragmented and competitive e-commerce ecosystem.

Future Prospects and AI Innovation

Merchantee is also developing new capabilities that will allow its AI system to autonomously determine the most effective execution strategy based on merchant objectives, such as choosing between promotional discounts and paid marketplace visibility. In the longer term, Merchantee is exploring agent-to-agent commerce models, where AI systems can communicate and execute marketplace strategies with minimal manual intervention. This vision anticipates a future where automation reaches even more sophisticated levels, further transforming the dynamics of digital commerce.

The evolution of platforms like Merchantee highlights the increasing adoption of AI to optimize complex and high-volume decision-making processes. While not directly related to on-premise Large Language Model deployments, Merchantee's approach reflects a broader trend in the tech industry: the application of AI to solve specific business problems, improving operational efficiency and competitiveness. For companies evaluating the integration of AI solutions, it is crucial to consider the trade-offs between control, cost, and scalability, aspects that AI-RADAR regularly analyzes for more intensive workloads.
