Seagate Launches 44TB HAMR HDDs for Data Centers
Seagate has announced the start of shipments of its new 44TB hard disk drives (HDDs), based on the Mozaic 4+ platform and equipped with HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology. These drives are specifically designed to meet the growing storage needs of data centers.
The Mozaic 4+ platform represents a significant advancement in storage technology, enabling increased data density and overall hard drive capacity. The expansion to 10 platters per drive is a key element of this innovation.
HAMR technology allows data to be written to magnetic surfaces with a higher density than traditional technologies. This translates into greater storage capacity in the same physical space, a critical factor for data centers looking to optimize space utilization and reduce operating costs.
These new 44TB HDDs offer data centers a solution to address the continued growth of data, while providing energy efficiency and reliability.
