Snowflake and OpenAI have announced a strategic partnership worth $200 million. The agreement aims to bring OpenAI's advanced models, including GPT-5.2, into Snowflake's data platform.
The integration will allow Snowflake customers (over 12,000 organizations) to develop AI agents and semantic analytics tools directly on their data, without the need to transfer it outside of Snowflake's governed environment. OpenAI models will be natively embedded in Snowflake Cortex AI and Snowflake Intelligence.
This will allow users to run queries, derive insights, and deploy AI-powered workflows using natural language interfaces and context-aware agents. Customers will be able to analyze structured and unstructured data, automating various processes.
For those evaluating on-premise deployments, there are trade-offs to consider. AI-RADAR offers analytical frameworks on /llm-onpremise to evaluate these options.
