Thema, a London-based startup, has announced $6.2 million in funding for its AI-powered analytics platform, designed to support private equity firms. The goal is to provide a better understanding of portfolio risks and expansion opportunities in the software market.

Funding Details

The funding includes $4.5 million in pre-seed funding, led by Stride.vc, with participation from KDX and Capital Allocators, as well as private investors with experience in private equity and enterprise software. In addition, Thema received a $1.7 million grant from the UK government, in partnership with the University of Cambridge, to develop trustworthy AI.

Platform Objective

Thema's platform aims to provide a continuously updated view of market structure, identifying adjacencies, competitive dynamics, and potential expansion paths that conventional databases may not detect. Using proprietary AI techniques, the platform processes web-scale data to identify how companies cluster into markets and how these structures change over time.

Development and Roadmap

Developed in collaboration with tier-one private equity firms and with the support of the UK government, Thema plans to use the new funds to expand R&D activities and commercial operations, with the aim of acquiring new customers.
